Technology

We live in a world that is vastly different than when I came out of graduate school 20 years ago.  (Shhhhhhh don't tell anyone I've been out of grad school 20 years).  I remember my first computer in graduate school was a dos based computer that required the floppy disk to boot each time.  The computer and dot matrix printer cost $2,000. Now, my smart phone does more than I even dreamed two years ago.

Social Workers are agents of change but sometimes have a hard time with technological change.  We need to embrace this change thoughtfully with an unwavering eye to our high ethical standards.  Technology is a tool that can help us be more efficient at what we do.  Efficiency is everything in these days of state budget cuts and corporate downsizing.

My mantra has and will always be, "Make technology work for you, don't work for technology"

This is a really cool video that shows the technological wave of change in our society.
